And judging from recent footage, this is certainly true for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, who was spotted having a barefoot kickabout in the backstreets of Beni Snous in Algeria.

The 26-year-old showed he hadn't forgotten his roots as he kicked about a ball in a modest neighbourhood while chatting to neighbours and passed by local children.

The former PFA player of the year's relaxing kick-about contrasted the ongoing speculation about his footballing future following his announcement that he wishes to leave his current club.

So far, Spanish giants Barcelona and London's Arsenal have been linked to the Algerian international.

Mahrez completed last season with six goals from 36 league appearances. As well as creating 50 attacking opportunities, the midfielder took a total of 76 shots on goal - more than all of his Leicester City team-mates.
