Abu Dhabi investigators are heading to the US after police in Ohio shot dead an Emirati, a state-owned newspaper in the United Arab Emirates has reported.

The Arabic-language Al Bayan newspaper also reported Thursday that the body of 26-year-old Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri is on its way back to the United Arab Emirates for burial on Friday.

Authorities say Alameri, a student at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, was shot once in the head on Sunday by police after fleeing a car crash on the Ohio Turnpike and fighting with an officer.
