Mourners of 21-year-old Izzideen Tamimi were blocked off from the funeral march in the West Bank by a convoy of Israeli soldiers.
Clashes erupted in the West Bank village of Nabi Saleh on Wednesday when Israeli forces attempted to block off the funeral procession of 21-year-old Izzideen Tamimi.

Tamimi was shot dead by Israeli forces on Wednesday during an early morning raid in his village - subjected to routine occupation and settler violence - after he allegedly threw a stone at a soldier's head. The soldier was not injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the soldiers continued kicking Tamimi after he was shot.

The Israeli military said its forces were approached by a dozen Palestinians throwing rocks. After initially responding with riot dispersal tools, including rubber bullets and tear gas, a soldier fired live rounds on Tamimi, who was struck in the neck.

The death comes amid soaring tensions between Israelis and Palestinians after Israeli troops killed more than 125 Palestinians and wounded nearly 3,700 since protests began in March at the Gaza border.

Izzideen is a distant relative of Palestinian teenage protest icon Ahed Tamimi.

Nabi Saleh is home to about 600 members of the extended Tamimi clan. The 17-year-old Ahed has drawn international attention for her arrest after slapping an Israeli soldier in the face in December, for which she is currently serving an eight month prison sentence.
