The leader of Palestinian group Hamas landed in Qatar to meet the country's Emir.

Ismail Haniyeh met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani Monday afternoon to discuss the "dangers facing the Palestinian cause" as some Arab countries continue their project of normalisation with Israel.

Jerusalem was also on the radar, with a rise in countries making the controversial move of moving their embassies in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Haniyeh expressed concern for the future of the Palestinian cause and urged Hamas is trying to work towards a function unity government in Palestine.

He said he is working to amplify the reconciliation process with rival group Fatah.

Haniyeh was received by his predecessor, Khaled Mashaal, who currently lives in Qatar.
