Israel has lifted lockdown measures enacted to control the spread of the coronavirus.
Thousands of Israeli school children and teachers are being quarantined following a new outbreak of coronavirus in the country, media reported on Tuesday.

A reported 10,000 school children and teachers were sent home and told to self-isolate following an outbreak of Covid-19 in education facilities.

Two thousand students and 200 teachers in the city of Beersheba will quarantine following an outbreak of the disease in the south of the country.

The measures are said to be precautionary after 164 students and 42 teachers were confirmed with Covid-19, but tests are being conducted with other classmates and school staff who have been in contact with the cases.

Israel has recently eased lockdown measures but a recent spike in cases led authorities to advise Israelis to wear masks in public.

Israel has launched a campaign to test 100,000 people for novel coronavirus antibodies as the country prepares for a possible "second wave" of cases, a top official said last month.

Israeli announced on Monday 50 new cases and two deaths from Covid-19.

It brings the total number of confirmed cases to 17,219 and deaths to 287.
