Algeria president orders sacking of transport officials for ‘insulting country's image’

Algeria's President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered three transport officials be sacked this week for mismanagement.
Tebboune on Thursday ordered transport minister Abdullah Manji fire two National Maritime Transport Company officials "because of their behaviour offensive to the image of Algeria, and harmful to the interests of citizens", according to the presidency.
The two officials were accused of overseeing poor organisation of the state company's sales of tickets to Algerians in France.
Customers were made to wait hours at night in front of the company's headquarters in the southern French city of Marseille and in other cities to sort out their tickets.
On Wednesday, the director of Algiers International Airport, Taher Allach, was also dismissed for mismanagement.
