Campaign launched to rename Istanbul street after Jamal Khashoggi
A campaign was launched by Amnesty International to rename the street of the Saudi consulate in Istanbul after Jamal Khashoggi.

Amnesty International branch in Turkey has called on the local municipalities in Instanbul to rename Akasyali street, where the Saudi consulate is located, after Jamal Khashoggi, the journalist murdered in the consulate.
"The murder of Jamal Khashoggi should not end in impunity, it should be effectively investigated. With Khashoggi murder, the whole world has seen how the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has exerted pressure on freedom of expression and how merciless it could get," Amnesty International's Turkey Strategy and Research Manager Andrew Gardner said.
"We demand from the Beşiktaş Municipality and İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality that they give the name of Jamal Khashoggi to the street so that this atrocity will not be forgotten or veiled."
The campaign was declared following a press conference by Amnesty International and Reporters without Borders at the Saudi consulate. An online petition was also launched.
Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who wrote critically about the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October, likely at the orders of the young but powerful royal.
The CIA believe Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered an operation to kill Khashoggi and say his body was dismembered and removed to a location still publicly unknown.
His remains have not been found.
