Doctors are concerned about the health of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and have recommended the 96-year-old remain under medical supervision, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday.

Queen Elizabeth remains at her Scottish home Balmoral Castle, the palace said. A palace source said immediate members had been informed.

"Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision," they said in a statement.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

The BBC reported that Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, is now with Queen Elizabeth after she was placed under medical supervision, while his son Prince William is also travelling to Balmoral Castle to be with her.

Prime Minister Liz Truss said the whole of the UK is "deeply concerned" by news about the health of the Queen.

Keir Starmer, the leader of Britain's opposition Labour Party, also said he was deeply concerned about the news from Buckingham Palace.

"Along with the rest of the country, I am deeply worried by the news from Buckingham Palace this afternoon," he said in a statement.

"My thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time, and I join everyone across the United Kingdom in hoping for her recovery," he added.
