The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, claimed to have destroyed 60 Israeli military vehicles, including 10 troop carriers, in strikes carried out over the last three days.

In a statement to by Al Jazeera, the group's spokesperson Abu Obeida suggested that the Israeli army had also bombed its own troops, believing they had been captured by Hamas.

This claim comes amid reports of intense and ongoing fighting between Hamas fighters and Israeli forces in various parts of the Gaza Strip.

The recent operations by the Al-Qassam Brigades reportedly included an ambush on Israeli troops southwest of Gaza City, which resulted in the capture and killing of several soldiers.

Abu Obeida has described the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza, which targets both civilian and military sites, as a campaign aimed at destruction of civilian areas.

The Al-Qassam Brigades also targeted the Greater Tel Aviv area, conducting one of the largest missile attacks on the city to date.

The Al-Qassam Brigades have been actively publicising their military engagements against Israeli forces, including the use of anti-tank and anti-personnel missiles, strategic ambushes, and attacks on key locations.

Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel led to the death of around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and the taking of around 240 hostages, according to Israeli officials.

Israel's ongoing bombardment and ground offensive in the besieged Gaza Strip has already killed over 13,000 people, more than 5600 of them children, with at least 6500 missing and a million displaced.
