Members of the family of Diaa Al-Kahlout, a detained journalist working for The New Arab’s Arabic-language sister site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, have been killed and injured in an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip.

Kahlout’s father-in-law was killed, while his father Khalil, his wife Ikhlas, and his son Hamza were injured when the house they were staying in was bombed by Israel on Monday morning.

The family’s home in Beit Lahia in the north of the Gaza Strip was set on fire by Israeli forces on Friday, along with several other houses.

Kahlout was detained last Thursday, along with dozens of civilian men including his brother and other relatives, by Israeli forces. Video of detained men, who were forced to strip and kneel by Israeli forces while their hands were bound, has caused outrage around the world.

To date, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed has received no confirmation on the fate of Kahlout, who heads its bureau in the Gaza Strip.
