Israeli forces raided several towns across the Nablus governorate in the north of the occupied West Bank in the early hours of Saturday, clashing with Palestinians.

Local sources reported that the Israeli military stormed the Al-Masaken Street and other neighbourhoods in the Askar refugee camp on the outskirts of Nablus city, firing tear gas and sound grenades.

The Israeli forces also stormed the villages of Beit Furik, Madama, Izmut, Rojit, Kafr Qallil, Salem and Qusin, to the east and south of Nablus.

Palestinians responded to the incursions, firing at the Israeli soldiers. This led to armed clashes

In  city of Jenin, where dozens of Palestinians were killed and wounded in Israeli raids this year, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades announced that it shot at vehicles belonging to Israeli settlers near the Gilboa settlement. Clashes were also reported in the nearby Shuafat refugee camp.

In Ramallah, there were also confrontations between the town’s residents and Israeli forces and settlers.

It was not clear if any arrests were made.

Since early last year, towns across the West Bank have seen frequent deadly raids by Israel, some of which have lasted days.

The past few months has witnessed some of the bloodiest, with the Israeli army using airstrikes on Jenin for the first time in at least 20 years.

Over 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers since the start of 2023, most of them in Jenin and Nablus.

Israel has been slammed by human rights groups and the international community for its excessive use of force against Palestinians.
