Israeli army attacks farmers in Gaza, arrests 14 Palestinians in occupied West Bank 

The Israeli army on Tuesday attacked farmers and shepherds in the Hamas-run coastal enclave, according to Palestinian security forces. 

Speaking to The New Arab, the sources said that the Israeli soldiers stationed in the eastern parts of the cities of Gaza and Khan Younis fired tear gas at the farmers and shepherds. 

As a result, the sources say, the farmers and shepherds were forced to leave their lands to avoid getting hurt. 

"I was planting at my four-dunum land with my brothers. Suddenly, the Israeli soldiers fired at us without any prior notice," Mohammed Baraka, a Khan Younis-based farmer, said to The New Arab.

"We left the place for some time (...) then, we return to our land, but the soldiers attacked us once again and ordered us to not close to our land, without telling us the reason," the 38-year-old father of seven added.

He can barely cultivate and harvest his land to make some money to keep his family afloat, he said. 

Meanwhile, the Israeli army forces arrested at least 14 Palestinians across various cities in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian security sources. 

"The detainees were arrested from the town of al-Tur in Jerusalem, the town of Bedouin, Al-Qubeba village, Beit Duqqo village, Beit Rima town, Qalqilya city, and Bethlehem city," sources told The New Arab. 

Israeli forces regularly conduct night raids on Palestinian towns in the West Bank. 

Israel has illegally occupied the West Bank since 1967, expanding settlements in the Palestinian Territories despite international outcry.
