Turkey: Blast in Ankara explosives factory kills at least five employees

At least five people in the Turkish capital of Ankara have died following a blast at a military explosives factory on Saturday, according to the country's National Defence Ministry, as well as local governors.
"According to preliminary information, a chemical reaction caused an explosion around 08:45 am (0545 GMT) in the dynamite preparation department. Unfortunately, five employees were killed," Vasip Sahin, governor of the Ankara province, told reporters at the factory.
The ministry said that an administrative and judicial investigation into the explosion have been opened, according to the Turkish Anadolu agency.

Re-elected President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was briefed on the incident by National Defense Minister Yasar Guler after the incident, said a statement by the country's Communication Directorate.
The president offered his condolences to the families of the deceased workers, the statement added. The bodies of all the victims have also been recovered from the rubble.
The factory is in the Elmadag region, some 40 kilometres (25 miles) east of the capital Ankara, and is part of Turkey's defence ministry.
