Earlier this week, singer and rapper Dargen D’Amico took the opportunity to call for a ceasefire at the end of his performance at Sanremo Eurovision, and highlighted that "there are children underneath bombs, without water and food.

Our silence is complicity". In addition, the main theme of D’Amico's song “Onda Alta" is about the migrants and refugees in the Mediterranean Sea. During his performance at the Teatro Ariston, he had a large number of teddy bears on him, which represented those abandoned by children who crossed the sea and failed to reach their destination.

D'Amico's call for a ceasefire comes on the back of growing criticism of Israel's involvement in this year's Eurovision contest, which will take place in May in Malmo, Sweden. Campaigns led by Finnish, Icelandic, and Swedish artists have called for Israel’s ban from Eurovision. The Icelandic Association of Composers and Lyricists also told its members not to participate in the show unless Israel was banned.
