Al Araby TV journalist Ameed Shehadeh and cameraman Rabie Munier had been in Jenin's refugee camp since 1am on Monday, transmitting live images of the unfolding events of Israel's military incursion on the city in the occupied West Bank.
The live images were picked up by many TV channels, including Israeli ones.
At around 10 am, the @AlarabyTv_News crew set up position in the square. Shortly before 11 am, a sand-coloured Israeli army jeep came into view, which stopped in the middle of the road and immediately, shots were heard.
According to a video from Ruptly's Aboud Younes, at least two Israeli soldiers fired live shots towards Al Araby TV's mounted camera and transmitter. The shooting lasted for nearly 50 seconds until the transmitter was blown up and the camera fell off the tripod.
During this time, the Al-Araby TV crew, along with Younes and two photographers from the Anadolu agency, took cover inside a staircase in a nearby home. They remained trapped there until they were escorted out by the Red Cross and Red Crescent and evacuated by ambulance to Khalil Suleiman Governmental Hospital. @alarabytv network has since condemned the attack.
