British TV personality Gemma Collins said she "felt a bit sick" after spending more than £1,000 ($1,363) during her visit to London's newest high-end steak house.

The Only Way Is Essex star went to the recently opened London branch of Nusr-Et restaurant chain, run by Turkish celebrity chef Nusret Gokce - better known as Salt Bae - with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Rami Hawash in September.

Prices at the boogie West London steak house include £9 for Coca-Cola and a Giant Tomhawk steak dusted with 24 karat gold at £630.

Collins shared her experience on Instagram, showing Salt Bae slicing meat covered in 24-carat gold leaf and sprinkling salt using his signature seasoning method that became a hit meme in 2017.

When the bill came, the TV star was, unironically, hit with reality.

"The bill was another situation, I was in utter shock. But you have to weigh these things up, the press reported that my steak cost £700, if only they knew... I wish it cost £700. It actually cost £1,450," she said on the Gemma Collins Podcast.

The next morning, she woke up feeling "sick" at the thought of her spending so much money when people across the world are without food.

"Yes we had 24 carat gold steak... I felt a bit sick," Collins said.

"It's something I've never done before, I would never spend that money, but we had a good evening."

However, she justified her splurge by saying her trip to Nusr-Et was akin to going on holiday.

"I went a bit over the top, but the only way I can justify it was that I haven't been on holiday this year," she said.

"I've been on a staycation, so we sort of had maybe all our holidays in one evening."

Despite feeling uneasy, she said she has no regrets about splurging, saying she would have paid to meet Salt Bae.

"It was an amazing experience, I would have paid that to meet him anyway because I love him, and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity," Collins urged.
